Woman Walks Up To Crying Man At Gas Station, Notices This In The Backseat

A Minnesota woman’s act of kindness toward a family living in poverty has inspired others to see the true power of love.

A story submitted by Nicole Marie Heintz’ and posted on the Love What Matters Facebook page tells the tale of a cold day in Apple Valley, Minnesota when the weather was only 10 degrees. One woman saw a man at the gas station who was wearing socks with holes in them and flip flops.

He was crying at the gas pump and his wife was in the front seat covering her face in her hands. Their two daughters were cuddling under a blanket in the back seat.

She approached the man and asked what was wrong and he said, “I can't even provide for my family.” Without thinking, the woman used her credit card to pay for his gas and told him, “Jesus Christ the Son of God died to provide for you.”

Something changed in him when she said that. His wife came out of the car to thank the woman. The woman noticed her clothes were torn and dirty and invited the wife and her daughters to take clothes from the back of her car. The woman recently cleaned out her closet and was going to donate them.

Soon a crowd gathered at the gas station. One person gave them a gift card, another gave the father his jacket.

“Never in my life did I think I would see this kind of thing happen at a gas station with a handful of complete strangers,” Heintz wrote. “But it gives me hope. That the love of God can be so contagious. That we are not alone in being the change we want to see in the world. That God's love is greater than anything and we get to be a part of that love changing lives. And HE always provides!"
