Woman May Receive Jail Time for Denying Husband Sex

Anna del Bono is facing up to six years in prison for “mistreatment within the family.” Her estranged husband, Vincenzo Altobelli, 46, claimed in a court in Sonnino, central southern Italy that Bono did not cook and clean and "unfairly" denied him sex.

He said, “'I would wake up at 3:30 a.m. to go to work and come back at seven in the evening. My children told me that dinner was never ready when they returned from school and they had to make do. For dinner I had to get by on pizza or cook myself."

He added, “The fact that she did not prepare lunch for our kids is only a small detail. She used to beat us repeatedly, she used to throw bowls of cold water over my head, lock the door to the marital bedroom and call me ‘handicapped'."

Del Bono argued, “I have always taken care of the house and looked after the children. As far as I'm concerned I have done nothing to him. I am a peaceful woman."

The couple has been separated for two years, and Del Bono has started seeing someone else. The case goes to trial on Oct. 12.
