Woman Finds Out She's 7 Months Pregnant, Doctors Make Odd Discovery In Her Ultrasound

Surprise pregnancies can sneak up even on the most diligent of couples, but the cat’s generally out of the bag pretty early on in the proceedings. According to Little Things, that wasn’t the case for this Illinois couple.

A woman known as Emily sought medical attention when she was experiencing some extreme cramping. She wound up in the emergency room, and she was absolutely stunned when the lab technician delivered some unexpected news. Turns out she was seven months pregnant, and she hadn’t the foggiest idea the whole time.

“I called my fiancé, and it was silence over the other end,” she explained.

Emily and her fiance Ben had just welcomed a baby boy into the world about 14 months ago, and she had shown no signs of pregnancy. Her menstrual cycle was normal, she felt energetic, and she had even dropped some weight recently.

Turns out she suffered from placenta previa, which shifts the position of the baby inside of the mother and makes detection difficult. The bleeding she experienced that she thought was part of her monthly period was actually a sign of the condition. Emily would go on to welcome a new daughter to to the world, who is doing well despite being on the tiny side.
