Teen Shoots At Family Members Trying To Wake Him Up

In Nashville, Tennessee a 16-year-old was in bed on Monday when his mother and grandmother tried to wake him up. He was angry at having to wake up so he threatened them before grabbing a handgun out of a closet and opening fire.

Nashville police spokeswoman Kris Mumford said, "There was a quarrel about getting up and getting ready for the day when (at some point) the 16-year-old ran to a closet, got a 9 mm handgun and started firing."

He allegedly shot his grandmother twice, while bullets grazed his 12-year-old sister and 6-year-old nephew. His mother and a 2-year-old sister who was in the home were not injured.

He’s been charged with four counts of attempted homicide and one count of reckless endangerment. In addition, his relatives had no idea he had a gun.
