Surrogate Mother Claims Biological Father Asked Her To Do The Unthinkable

Melissa Cook, 48, agreed to carry children for a Georgia man named CM. She was paid $3k for triplets. Then, he tried to get her to abort one of the three babies because he claimed he could not afford to care for the triplets. Cook, from California, believes the man is a 50-year-old deaf postal worker from Georgia who lives with his elderly parents and cannot properly care for the babies. She is now suing for custody of the triplets.

It was in summer 2015 when she agreed to carry babies for the man using his sperm and three eggs from a 20-year-old donor. Things went awry when the man found out she was having triplets. Cook said, "Being asked to abort a healthy baby, it devastated me. I could not do that. The babies were moving around in me. I heard their heartbeat. Being asked to do that at such a late term...I was 17 or 18 weeks pregnant. They wanted me to abort up until 20 weeks." Her case was dismissed from both civil and family court before being appealed and reaching federal district court yesterday, where the outcome is still pending.
