Single Mother Does The Unthinkable After Spotting A Homeless Man

Sofia Andrade originally had only $2 left in her pocket so she spent it on a scratch off ticket and won $200. She then gave the money to someone else in need.

“I knew that the money never really belonged to me,” Andrade told WCVB. “This money was meant to help him.”

That 'him' was a homeless man named Glenn Williams who she found panhandling in the cold. Andrade invited Williams to go for a ride in her car to grab a coffee at a local coffee shop. She says she never felt threatened or nervous by him at all.

“He was so overwhelmed by just the generosity of a coffee that he just couldn’t stop crying,” Andrade said.

After learning that Williams had been homeless for three years and that the local shelters had no bed space, she decided to use the $200 to buy him a hotel room. She then posted about the meeting on Facebook and started a GoFundMe account to raise funds for Williams’ long-term care. It started a chain of generosity where one person donated a haircut, another donated some warm clothes for the winter and a child even made him a Valentine’s Day card.

“Know that you are loved this Valentine’s Day!” the card said.

“There’s a lot of good people in this world,” said Williams crying. “I’m overwhelmed with all the help, and I just want to thank everybody.”
