She Couldn't Take School Bullies Anymore So High School Student Gets Plastic Surgery

Even with all the anti-bullying campaigns, policies and awareness, kids can still be extremely cruel to one another. It's a sad fact of life, and because of this, many high school students positively dread the start of a new school year.

Kids who are bullied for their looks can begin to believe the terrible things that their peers are saying about them, and it can make life miserable. One young woman couldn't take it anymore, so she tried to make a change in hopes that she would feel better about herself.

Elisa Chaddock is a sophomore at an Orange County California high school, and she was not looking forward to getting back to it this fall. The teen has been brutally bullied by her classmates over her looks. Elisa had a bump on her nose, and her classmates never let her forget it.

For the last few years she has been called names such as 'hammer head shark', 'toucan' and 'big nose'.

Elisa tells Inside Edition that the bullying was difficult to take. "That's really hard for me because I do have a name and I am a person... "I try to block it out I try be strong and confident, but it’s really hard. It’s just like, I want to hide or put my head down.”

The teen girl's mother, Laurie, was devastated by the effect the bullying was having on her daughter. She explains that Elisa was always 'crying and sobbing', and Laurie explains 'it just killed me inside'.

It got so bad that whenever Elisa looked in the mirror, she couldn't see anything else but her nose. She became fixated on it and felt bad about herself. That's when Laurie and Elisa decided to try and do something about the situation. They went to The Magic Mirror Foundation and talked to Dr. Michael Niccole.

“These kids are constantly being teased and you know you want to do something for them,” said the doctor, a plastic surgeon.

Dr. Niccole offered to work on Elisa's nose for free. The family was overjoyed.

Over the summer, Elisa went in for surgery. The bump on her nose was shave down, and she was given a chin implant to make her nose look less prominent. The work was not drastic. The doctor didn’t reshape Elisa’s nose to make her look like a different person. The work did balance out her features, however, bringing out her own unique beauty.

Elisa is elated with the results. When the bandages came off and the results were revealed, she threw her arms around Niccole and thanked him.

The change has not only been external, however. Lauri notes that the surgery made a huge internal impact on her daughter's self-esteem. “I've seen such a dramatic change," her mom said. "She's just a much happier girl."

When Elisa looks at herself in the mirror now, she feels good again. She has regained the confidence that she lost. “I feel super confident and comfortable in my own skin," she says.

For the first time in years, she is really looking forward to going back to school. She's been shopping with her mother for some new outfits and is ready to show off her new look.
