Sexual Abuser Gets Lengthy Prison Sentence To Reflect On His Mistakes

Donald Burrell, 57, was sentenced to 1,000 years--12,370 months--in prison for sexual abuse. The sentence was handed down on Nov. 9.

According to Pennsylvania state police, Burrell started raping his victim in 1991 when she was 7 years old and was convicted of more than 5,100 sexual abuse charges.

After a four-day trial, Bradford County District Attorney Dan Barrett said a jury found Burrell guilty in June. Barrett called Burrell a sexually violent individual who will never see the light of day.

In 2013, Ariel Castro received a similar sentence of life without parole plus 1,000 years in prison for kidnapping, raping and imprisoning three women in his Cleveland home.

Although the longest prison sentence ever given in the U.S. was for Charles Scott Robinson, a child rapist who was sentenced to 30,000 years in prison in 1994.
