School Refuses To Give Boy Food Because He Forgot To Bring Lunch Money (Photos)

A student in an Indiana school forgot his lunch money, and the school refused him a hot lunch. The school provided him with a sandwich so he wouldn't go hungry, but the quality control in the cafeteria for non-paying students is apparently lacking.

Amy Wittaker Anders posted a photo on Facebook of the sandwich the school gave her son. A good quarter of the sandwich was a shade of bright blue-green. It was completely molded.

The student took the photo of the sandwich and alerted the school of the mold. They replaced the sandwich, but the child was afraid to eat it.

“I have no idea how someone could not see this was bad when handing it out!” said Anders in her post.

The Avon Community School Corporation put out a statement accepting responsibility for the mistake and promising to do something about it. "We are grateful to be made aware of the situation and have reached out to the parents and apologized. This is an unacceptable human error and we are looking into it to ensure that this never happens again," the statement said.
