Reddit User's "Crazy" Uncle Passes, Gets Life-Altering Letter Days Later

A young boy has taken to the popular online discussion board, Reddit to reveal he inherited an extremely impressive, not to mention expensive, car collection from an estranged uncle. The boy’s “crazy, loner of an uncle” left around 14 collectible cars to his oldest nephew, with the net worth estimated to be over $1 million. Amongst the cars are old fashioned beauties, including a 1964 Chevrolet Corvette, a Porsche, a Jag and Ferrari to name a few. The cars, stored in a controlled facility, were the life’s work of the boy’s uncle. The deceased “apparently [he] got lucky with some land holdings during the housing bubble—selling them before it burst—and spent most of the profits expanding and restoring his collection”, says the nephew of the man.

Most of the cars are predicted to be in roadworthy condition however the boy is yet to see his inheritance, as the law firm has not yet had specialist properly value each car and determine their conditions. The boy’s parents have advised him to sell it, excluding a 1980 Ford Bronco “which they view as the most reliable”. This advice may have been slightly biased as the boy revealed is parents “hate” the uncle, labeling him a “wacky recluse”, and are rather bitter they were left nothing in his will. The boy has not been convinced, and wishes to “hold onto the cars as long as possible”. However, this will give way to an array of challenges, the first being how he will store and pay for the storage of the cars once the lease his uncle paid for is finished.

Unfortunately, the lucky nephew has not yet had the opportunity to actually see the cars for himself, asking the executors of the estate to get some photos. Hundreds of online users have attempted to estimate the combined value of the cars, some guessing as much as $1 million. There is no way of knowing the value of the boy’s inheritance until he is legally allowed to see the cars. The young nephew hopes that they will be in good condition and has assured the Reddit community that he will keep them in the loop with his plans.
