Quick-Thinking Pharmacist Drugs Captor Holding Employees Hostage

A hostage situation arose on Tuesday morning in Montgomery when a man walked into the Redmont Pharmacy with a gun and demanded drugs. The pharmacist gave him drugs that eventually put him to sleep.

Donna Weatherford, the store pharmacist, handled the situation beautifully, reports shop owner J.C. Weeks. First, Weatherford talked the armed intruder into letting go a customer and other employees.

Weatherford then gave in to his demands and gave him drugs. Within two hours, he'd OD'd on the pills and passed out. The pharmacist then grabbed the gun and hurried out the front door.

The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Christopher Trails. Trails is now in the hospital being treated for an overdose.

Concerned family, friends and co-workers were relieved to see Weatherford unharmed She's been hailed as a hero for her actions.

If he comes back to his senses, Trail will probably realize in hindsight that doing drugs in the middle of a heist was probably bad planning.
