Police Find A 3-Year-Old Boy Abandoned In A Ditch - It Gets Worse

A mom from Maine was too strung out to notice her 3-year-old son left the house by himself. Police got a call about a child walking around on his own, and found the boy in a drainage ditch. The little boy was able to lead the cops right back to his mother. She was promptly arrested.

Mandy Dennison, 27, pleaded guilty to charges endangering the welfare of a child, possession of the sedative clonazepam, possession of suboxone and violating a condition of release. Dennison was arrested shortly after her young son was found lying alone in a ditch one evening.

A passerby spotted the little boy laying down in the drainage ditch and contacted authorities. Police arrived and found him where the person spotted him. The tot didn't know his address, but he did tell police that he had been watching Scooby Doo before he went out for a walk without his mother. Police went to check out a nearby apartment complex and found a door wide open, with a television inside showing Scooby Doo cartoons.

Police entered the apartment and found Dennison asleep. They were unable to wake her up, even after multiple attempts of calling and shaking the woman. When she finally did wake up, police asked if she knew where her son was. Dennison admitted she didn’t.

Police found she was on prescription drugs, which were illegally in her possession. Police found the bottle next to the bed where the young mother was sleeping. Dennison was already on parole from previous offenses, and possessing the illegal prescription drugs violated the conditions of her release.

Dennison copped a plea deal to avoid jail time. She does need to follow any and all rules set by the Department of Health and Human Services, which include mandatory counseling, for the next 12 months. She'll also be fined $900 for drug possession, but the child endangerment charges have been dropped.
