Onlookers Sick After Teen Walks Out Of House Holding The Unthinkable - He's Accused Of Decapitation

A young man in North Carolina apparently had a psychotic episode that led to him decapitating his mother earlier this week. The 18-year-old boy faces several charges concerning the brutal murder of his mother. Police officers report Funes was taken into custody by officers less than a block down the street holding his mom’s severed head and a bloody butcher's knife.

The police report notes that Oliver Funes called 911 to report to authorities he had killed his mother at their home in Franklin County, North Carolina.

Witnesses report that the teen apparently walked out of the house holding the woman's head in one hand and a butcher knife in the other.

Deputies discovered the remainder of body of 35-year-old Yesenia Funez Beatriz Machado inside the house.

In a presser, Franklin County Sheriff Kent Winstead noted that Machado’s 18-year-old son has been charged with first-degree murder in her killing.

Funes is being held in the county jail without bond.

Winstead highlighted in his comments that Funes' two younger sisters were at home but not hurt in the incident, and a fourth sibling was at school at the time.

A motive for the savage killing is not apparent.

Machado’s husband came home later and had to be taken away by police as he was near hysterical.

Fortunately, other relatives also arrived at the home a little later to help with the kids.

A neighbor was interviewed by a local TV station, and he commented: “Complete and utter shock. This whole area is a quiet area and I didn’t know what to expect when I got home and saw police cars and everything around.”

Winstead also noted in the press conference: “It’s a terrible situation for the family, a terrible situation for the neighborhood and this county. I’m just glad things worked out the way they did and no one else was hurt in taking the suspect into custody.”
