Officials Finally Discover What Underwear Was Soaked In Before Inmate Ate Them And Died

Corey McQueary, 33, died in a Kentucky jail after eating underwear that was soaked in methadone. According to Mail Online, Michael Jones, 55, allegedly smuggled the methadone laced underwear into prison when he was let out of Jessamine County Detention Center in Nicholasville on a day release to attend a funeral.

When he returned, he reportedly cut the drug-laced underwear up and shared it with his cellmates, including McQueary. The 33-year-old was found unresponsive in his cell and pronounced dead later that day. Police say he likely passed away of a drug overdose.

“When somebody comes in the facility either from a furlough or any other occurrence, they're searched, their clothing's searched, strip searched, any other type of search that we feel is necessary,” Jailer Jon Sallee told Mail Online.

“'If something is in their garment and it's colorless, odorless, it would be very difficult, almost impossible, to detect from the naked eye.”

Jones has been arrested and charged with murder for McQueary’s death.. Mail Online reports that McQueary is believed to have been awaiting trial for manufacturing methamphetamines. Methadone is an addictive opiate used as a painkiller and to help addicts get off heroin. Their methadone dosage is slowly decreased to prevent withdrawal symptoms. A methadone overdose can cause one to go into a coma, have respiratory failure and die.
