Mother's Worst Nightmare Comes True After Pediatrician's Diagnosis

Hayley Lions saw odd red spots on her little boy multiply. Then, one day, he woke up in pain with bleeding open sores that started out only as a small skin rash. She took him to four different doctors with different diagnosis' and prescriptions. Then, her son's condition took a turn for the worst.

Lyons is now warning others about what happened to her son. Lyons was told by her pediatricians in the U.K. that her son was battling a bad case of the common chicken pox. She was told to keep him comfortable and keep his temperature down with children's ibuprofen. She followed the doctor's orders.

Yet, when her son woke up with crusted and bleeding chickenpox, she rushed him to the hospital. It was there that she found out that over-the-counter children's ibuprofen "reacts with chicken pox, making them go deeper into the skin tissue." Her son now has permanent scars of the terrifying experience.

Her son was diagnosed with septicemia, a severe secondary infection to the chickenpox, caused solely by the ibuprofen. He has since recovered, but the scars are a reminder. Lyons is now warning others on how to avoid the same fate.

She's thankful she trusted her gut feeling and rushed him to the hospital when she did.
