Man Develops Odd Diaper Rash in Armpit From Popular Item

Rodney Colley had noticed his armpits burning furiously when he was taking a shower. He hadn't yet used soap so, he knew it had to be something else.

He had to get out of the shower to try to ease his pain. Over the next few days, his skin started to scab, blister and bleed. After a Google search, he found out he wasn't the only one with these symptoms. The 23-year-old from Alexandria, Virginia first noticed what felt like a "diaper rash" in his underarm on Sunday.

He thought he could cure it with a shower. Rodney said, “I got out of the shower on Monday morning and it felt like my armpit was on fire. So I looked in the mirror and sure enough the skin around it started scabbing.”

During his Google search, he was able to determine the cause--especially after seeing other victims with similar symptoms. Before his painful symptoms, Rodney started using the Old Spice Pure Sport High Endurance Deodorant.

A man online named Michael Smith, complained about the chemical burn he endured from the same Old Spice product in a video he uploaded on YouTube. Both Smith and Rodney joined a growing group of sufferers who voiced their concerns to Consumer Affairs. The deodorant also received only 1.7 stars out of five. Old Spice has yet to respond.
