KFC Puts Blunt Sign On Front Door, Onlookers Furious - KFC Responds Like This

From coast to coast, stories have made headlines about police officers being disrespected. Cashiers, fast food workers, and others have refused service, been rude, or, in some cases, tampered with their food. In Ohio, one restaurant chain is trying to give police a break.

Across Ohio, a handful of KFC stores are participating in a promotion in support of local law enforcement. More and more signs are popping up on KFC doors, announcing police eat free.

"All Uniformed Police Officers Eat Free Everyday All Day," reads a sign in a Gallipolis store. The franchise owner Doug Knipp believes police deserve it.

"You guys are putting your life on the line for us," said Knipp. "Any time you're on duty, it's just our way of saying thank you."

Knipp says he's gotten calls from people all over the country who wanted to praise him or thank him for the decision. Knipp is hoping more restaurant owners will join in the cause.

Customers love it, too. "I think it's a wonderful idea," said a customer to WSAZ. "I know it makes you feel safer to come and eat, I can tell you that."
