Kellogg Issues Huge Recall Of Certain Products

The detection of peanut residue in wheat flour by manufacturer Grain Craft has prompted a wave of recalls by food companies that are attempting to get in front of the scare. According to CNN, we can add Kellogg Co. to the growing list of companies that has pulled back some of its products.

The company has released a statement to explain its reasoning for the recalled products, which include snack products from several famous brands including Keebler and Special K.

"While consumers with severe peanut allergies should avoid the recalled products, the FDA has stated that the amount of peanut exposure from the flour is low and not expected to cause adverse health effects in the vast majority of peanut allergic consumers. The company has received no reports of related illness to date," the statement reads in part.

The Kellogg recall follows similar steps taken by Frito-Lay and Hostess Brands. The flour company detected the problem from a batch of wheat flour that came from a mill in Georgia, and all recalls have been voluntary at this point.
