Impatient Driver Attempts To Save Time By Causing Accident With Funeral Procession

Anyone that drives with some regularity knows that the roads are a perilous place. Beyond the obvious dangers inherent in massive chunks of metal hurtling down the road towards each other, there are also a plethora of drivers out there that feel the need to push the envelope. They typically justify their behavior by claiming that they’re ‘in a rush,’ but that’s simply an incredibly selfish reason to place other motorists in danger.

As AWM shares, that selfish behavior was on display once again in this stunning incident. The family of Elizabeth Maureen Morris was attempting to honor one of her final requests in a special way.

“Our grandmother always said that she had wanted horses at her funeral and we were so pleased to have been able to carry out her wishes,” said one relative.

The family would acquire the services of a horse-drawn carriage to lead the way on her funeral procession. While there are some pretty hard and fast rules about other motorists yielding to funeral processions, it appears that was asking too much for this unidentified motorist to adhere to. The motorist attempted to cut the procession off, and he ended up plowing into the horses and the carriage.

“It’s very difficult to explain the severity of what we saw that day. We absolutely worshipped my grandmother. She planned this funeral herself two years ago and up until this point it was beautiful. Seeing this felt as bad as the day she actually passed away,” added another relative.

The driver of the carriage suffered extensive injuries, and one of the horses was so severely injured that it had to be put down to sleep. No word on what kind of charges are pending against the careless driver, but hopefully they throw the book at him. As for other motorists that show little concern for the safety of others, perhaps it’s about time to get a handle on exactly what is always causing you to be ‘in a rush.’

“Our grandfather had been so proud and then he had to watch that happen at his wife’s funeral,” said another relative.
