Husband Sentenced To 750 Years In Prison, Wife Beats That By A Long Shot

A couple from Florence, Alabama are facing a longest prison sentence possible after they sexually abused a girl in their care close to 100 times while simultaneously producing child pornography. U.S. District Judge, L. Scott Coogler, was horrified by the case made before him on 22 October 2014, stating that he has “been on the bench since 1998, and this [was] the worst case I have personally dealt with, including murders”.

Lauderdale County couple: 42 year old Matthew David Ayers and his wife, 34 year old Patricia Allana Ayers, were sentenced the maximum prison term of 2,300 collective years behind bars. The repulsive couple were found to have forced a young girl entrusted in their care, to have her picture taken in sickeningly lewd poses. Matthew and Patricia also sexually assaulting the victim, taking turns to photograph her assault. The abuse occurred from 2010, when the girl came into the custody of the couple at age 6, until January of 2013, when the girl was 9. Judge Coogler stated to the couple that “You[they] robbed this child of her childhood and her soul, and a maximum sentence is the only sentence appropriate”, knowing that even a lifetime behind bars for the two abusive, sick individuals, was far less punishment then they deserved.

Mr. Ayers pleaded guilty to 25 counts of production of children’s pornographic photography while Mrs. Ayers pleaded guilty to 53 counts. Collectively, the pair were charged with nearly 100 counts of child pornography production, not to mention charges of rape and sexual abuse. The horrific case did not end there, after Mrs. Ayers admitted to sending the images of the girl to a man in Texas and revealed she had intended to take the child to the man so he could engage in sexual acts with her. Authorities have admitted the internet has “a depraved and dark side which the Ayers lived in, bringing a child for whom they were responsible with them” and have assured the public they are doing everything in the measure to bring people such as the Ayers’ to justice. A U.S Attorney known as Joyce White Vance, has also stated her approval of the maximum sentence handed to the Ayers’: "The stern sentences imposed on this couple today reflect the abhorrent nature of their abuse and exploitation of a young child in their care…”. It is unclear if police have been able to find the unidentified man in Texas who may be similarly disturbed.
