He Spray Painted A Message Of Love To His Girlfriend, City Hits Him With Harsh Charge

When love is in the air, it can be hard to think clearly. Most people are able to get things together before their new frame of mind gets the better of them, but others fall into the trap of making some careless decisions as a result of their blissful state. As the Huffington Post shares, that’s what happened to this 23-year-old man from Ohio, and he’s been arrested for criminal mischief as a result.

Kyle Stump knew that his girlfriend, 21-year-old Michelle Astorino was the one for him. He was ready to take the leap and ask for her hand in marriage, and he wanted to do it in a memorable way. Kyle’s interpretation of memorable turned out to be defacing and vandalizing public property, and he now finds himself in some serious trouble.

Rather than just coming out and popping the question after springing for a ring, Stump decided to throw convention out the window. His bright idea was to spray paint his proposal on the side of a building in the city-owned mall at Lake Sheffield. We’re not just talking about a small marking either, but rather a display that consumed 30 feet of wall space.

Unfortunately for Stump, Astorino never came across his grafitti. That prompted him to take her for a walk and point it out to her with the assistance of a flashlight. How romantic.

“Michelle Marry Me. I Love You,” the proposal read in huge red letters - with a heart, of course.

Stump got his ‘yes’ from Astorino, but that wasn’t all he got that night. Following up on a tip, investigators were able to track him down. He was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, and he wound up with fines and a suspended sentence. The couple has mixed emotions about how things played out.

“They don’t have to be so hard on me,” Stump lamented.

“We’ve basically just brushed it off and are excited about our engagement. It’s still a crime, we understand that, but, I mean, it’s not that serious,” Astorino said.
