Girl's Eye Bleeds And Leaves Doctors Stunned

An 11-year-old girl from Hong Kong was taken to the doctor's office with a swollen eyelid. The doctor gave her medicine and sent her home. Yet, her eyelid started to bleed so her family took her back to the doctor's office. The doctors explained that it was just a chalazion--“a common problem in which a lump forms in the lid due to a blocked oil gland." Unfortunately, she still had bloody tears.

This time, they went back to the hospital where they were referred to an ophthalmologist. A CT scan showed a lesion at the top of her that was full of fluid and a hard edge. Doctors thought she had a large cyst at the top of her eye. Although, they went in for a closer look. They flipped the girl's eyelid inside out, that is when they finally determined the issue. A contact lens had come flying out of her eye.

Her mother then remembered the girl had lost one around two years ago, but they could never find it. According to Mail Online, “This was a lens given to her to wear overnight to reshape her cornea – the transparent layer at the front of the eye – to stop her short-sightedness getting worse.” The lens wedged itself in the girl's eye.
