Doctors Negligence Causes Man Pain For 18 Years - It’s Finally Removed

A man in Vietnam was rushed to the hospital with terrible stomach pains. Doctors examined him and gave him an ultrasound. They found something startling causing the pain: a pair of scissors.

Ma Van Nhat, 54, had a pair of 6-inch long surgical scissors near his colon. Doctors rushed him into surgery and it took a three-hour-long procedure to remove the scissors. During the decades inside the man’s body, the instrument had become corroded, and the metal fused to some of his organs.

According to Ngo Trung Thang, deputy head of general affairs at Gang Thep Thai Nguyen hospital, Nhat is 'recovering well.'

Naht was involved in a car accident back in 1998. He was rushed into surgery then, and apparently his surgeons at the time made a huge blunder. They left the surgical scissors behind in him and sewed the man up. Suc Khoe va Doi Song news reports the man was 'eating, drinking and having a pretty normal life.'

For more than 20 years, Naht had no idea that he was carrying around a foreign object in his body, nor was he aware of what a threat the scissors were to his health, and possibly his life. Things could have turned out to be so much worse than stomach pains and surgery. That botched operation could have cause serious damage to the patient had those sharp scissors pierced a vital organ. With the rusting, eroding metal rotting away inside of him, his doctors estimate that Naht had about five years before they resulted in serious, irreversible organ damage.

Naht was lucky that the mistake didn't cause him any lasting health problems. He was lucky to have them removed when he did.

Health officials in Japan are now trying to go through records to track down the surgeon who left Naht in danger. So far, they haven’t had any luck.
