Did O.J. Get Drunk With Gal Pals The Night Of 2007 Robbery?

Newly revealed photos show O.J. Simpson partying with two women at bars shortly before the football legend took part in the armed robbery that landed him in prison for nine years.

Simpson was convicted of stealing sports memorabilia, which he claimed was his property, from a hotel room in Las Vegas in September 2007. Earlier that night, he was drinking and cavorting with his former girlfriend and one of her friends. The Daily Mail reported that there are also photos of Simpson acting as the best man for his friend, Thomas Scotto, the day before the robbery. In other pictures, “The Juice” can been be seen entering the Las Vegas hotel with his five accomplices.

Simpson avoided prison in 1995, when a jury acquitted him of murder charges in the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend, Ron Goldman. The highly publicized courtroom drama became known as the “trial of the century.” Two years later, Simpson was forced to pay a civil settlement of $33 million to the victims’ families.

To raise the money, he wrote a controversial book, “What If,” and auctioned much of his National Football League merchandise. Some of the items, including Simpson’s Heisman Trophy and a football used in one of his most famous games, were among the memorabilia in the hotel room. His ex-wife’s wedding ring and a signed photo of former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover also were part of the collection.

Tom Riccio, one of those who assisted Simpson in the robbery, claimed in an ABC News interview that the former gridiron star had told him: “This is not memorabilia. These are personal artifacts that were stolen from me. Everyone thinks nothing bad happens to me. Here I am being robbed. Why don’t we show the world that I have to go by myself to get my stuff back?”

Memorabilia dealer Bruce Fromong testified in court that he agreed to meet with one of the five men to discuss selling the merchandise. He said he was surprised when the man showed up with Simpson and the other accomplices. According to Fromong, all the visitors had firearms. In an audiotape of the incident, O.J. can be heard asking: “You think you can steal my s**t?” One of the men, Michael McClinton, recalled: “(Simpson) was definitely drunk, and it was all funny to him. … He just kept saying, ‘No guns. Just say there wasn’t guns.’  knew he was full of s**t and I thought something was going to go down with it.”

The Daily Mail reported that many of Simpson’s old friends have abandoned him. Scotto, who attended the disgraced athlete’s parole hearing earlier this year, is one of the few who still defend him. The Florida resident continues to insist that Simpson was framed. Scotto, who complained that the incident “ruined” his wedding, claimed that O.J. just wanted to “pick up” property that he thought belonged to him. “This guy can’t even jaywalk without getting in trouble,” Scotto said after the robbery took place.
