Cops Protect Family By Forming Human Wall During Dallas Shooting - Mother Shares Powerful Message

A woman who was shot in the Dallas shootings that claimed the lives of five police officers says that it was police officers who risked their lives to save hers. She recounts her story and still can't believe the sacrifice the cops were willing to make for her.

Shetamia Taylor was at the protest that fateful day when Micah Johnson massacred police officers at a Black Lives Matters protest. Taylor saw an officer get shot and fall. He shouted to her to take her children and run. As she tried to flee the deadly scene, she took a bullet to the leg. The mom fell to the ground with her children in tow.

Her 'heroes' were the police, the very people she and others were protesting.

"Police officers started coming up the block. I heard him asking if anyone was hit. I said, ‘Yes, sir. I was hit in my leg,’" Recounted Taylor. "And the officer jumped on top of me, and covered me and my son. And there was another [officer] at my feet. And another one by my head. They stayed there with us."

Even as another of their fellow officers fell right nearby, the police remained firmly in place to protect Taylor and her family. They risked their own lives to do their jobs and ensure the safety of the public.

As her leg heals, Taylor is temporarily in a wheelchair. But she's alive and will recover, and her children were unharmed.

Taylor plans to continue joining in peaceful protests to show her son's that she's not 'a quitter,' but she realizes how lucky she was to be protected that night, even as other people lost their fathers and husbands.
