Community Left Puzzled After Body Of Missing Teen Is Finally Found

Horrifyingly, dozens of American teenagers go missing every year after running away, getting lost or during suspicious circumstances. The body of one missing teen from South Carolina has been discovered close to a creek near Mount Gallant Road, Rock Hill.

At this stage of the investigation, police do not suspect that the death was suspicious with a spokesman for York County Sheriff’s Department, Trent Faris, telling the media that no foul play was evident during initial appraisals by the coroner. The local community has been shocked by the revelation with Faris saying: “It’s not the outcome that anybody wanted from this.”

The deceased teenager, Jamie Lee Allison Magras, was found by police after they received an anonymous tip with the spokesman emphasizing that “From Saturday night until this morning, we were still receiving tips. One of those tips was why we came back to this area and searched this area.” Originally from the U.S. Virgin Isles, Ms. Magras had left family and traveled to Rock Hill for unknown reasons. Ms. Magras had been studying at Northwestern High School, having just attended Prom, and was due to graduate next Spring.

Before her disappearance, Ms. Magras had left her home on her own accord. Fellow students at Northwestern have been horrified by the announcement with many students emphasizing that Ms. Magras had never mentioned having any problems at home, where she lived with her step-father, Rob Maietta. After hearing that she had been missing for several hours, Mr. Matietta was initially concerned that his step-daughter might have an accident if she did not take her medication, which she needs to prevent seizures.

After her disappearance, the entire community marshaled their resources in an attempt to find the young girl. Numerous social media sites were created to help focus the search while Mr. Matietta and the girl’s employer offered a $10,000 reward for information. The police effort was similarly vast, encompassing State and Federal officials, helicopter searches and the use of K-9 units. Since her discovery, police have ended all search operations, and an autopsy has been scheduled.

If anyone has information about the young girl’s tragic death, please call the sheriff’s office (803-628-3059), 911, or Crimestoppers (1-877-409-4321).
