Clever Mother Uses Love Instead Of Hate When Children Choose To Fight

Raising children can be an equally exciting yet tormenting experience and when it comes to discipline, it can often be difficult to think of a constructive and lasting method of teaching children an important lesson. Mother of four, Alexis Tillman, has created a hilarious yet effective method of resolving the seemingly never-ending feud that exists between siblings.

Ms. Tillman can often be heard threatening to bring out “the shirt” whenever her children are arguing. Referred to as the “Love Shirt”, this large, white men’s shirt is used to bring sibling closer together, both metaphorically and physically. As Ms. Tillman’s 8-year-old son Tyler and 10-year-old daughter Dominique have their fair share of arguments, they’ve had plenty of experience both wearing the shirt. Both Dominique and Tyler are made to wear the shirt at the same time, while Ms. Tillman plays songs like ‘I’m Lost Without You’ by BeBe and CeCe, getting them to dance to the music. Depending on the severity of the argument, Ms. Tillman has been known to play at least three songs for particularly dramatic fights.

This ingenious method of absolving arguments is, as Ms. Tillman told CBS News, a way to remind her children of how important they are to each other: “I want them to get along, to stick together. So that’s what I’ll keep trying to teach them…” This teaching method has since gone viral after Ms. Tillman took to Facebook with a video of her two children wearing the ‘I love you’ shirt and dancing. Ms. Tillman’s older children, 16-year-old Meri and 12-year-old Kaylin are living proof of the shirts success, with Ms. Tillman confirming that they’re closer than ever.

Ms. Tillman hopes that her ‘Love Shirt’ method can be adopted by other parents and will ultimately spread a positive message regarding the importance of filial relationships. Ms. Tillman believes that all siblings should aim to value each other more rather than letting petty arguments create a divide in the relationship.
