Boss Immediately Confronts His Employee After Discovering Secret He Hid Behind The Register

Alex Mesta wanted to pay his respect to a local veteran, but his employer had other plans. The 19-year-old worked at Jack in the Box and would see the man a few times a week since they both worked graveyard shifts. Once in awhile, Mesta would give the man some free coffee as a gesture of gratitude and respect.

“It's not even a dollar for our coffee,” a Facebook post about the incident said. The post was shared more than 5,000 times.

One day Mesta decided to give the veteran two tacos that were leftover and were going to be thrown away. A customer had ordered them and left them behind. The veteran had also ordered tacos.

"It was either throw them away or make them for him," Mesta said.

The total cost of the coffee and tacos wasn’t more than $4, however, Jack in the Box reportedly fired him without writing him up or giving him a warning, 23 ABC reports. It was the first job and he had been working there for years. Mesta says that his employer viewed videotapes and saw him give away the tacos.

"I know what I did wasn't right to them," Mesta said. "But to me it felt right."
