Autistic Boy Shocked After Unlikely Person Joins Him For Lunch

One mom in Florida worries about her autistic son often sitting alone eating lunch. When she saw a picture that showed a sports star sitting down with the young man and treating him with kindness, she was moved to tears. Her Facebook post about her son's lunch companion went viral.

Some members of the Florida State Seminoles visited Montford Middle School recently. During lunchtime, Travis Rudolph asked Bo Paske if he could sit with him at his table. The two hit it off and apparently had a nice conversation.

Paske's mother, Leah, was moved to tears when someone at the school sent her a photo. Bo is autistic, and he usually sits alone for lunch.

“I'm not sure what exactly made this incredibly kind man share a lunch table with my son, but I'm happy to say that it will not soon be forgotten,” Leah wrote on Facebook. “This is one day I didn't have to worry if my sweet boy ate lunch alone, because he sat across from someone who is a hero in many eyes.”

Rudolph didn't think it was a big deal. “I asked if I could sit next to him, and he said 'sure, why not?'” Rudolph said about Bo. “I just felt like we had a great conversation. He started off and was so open. He told me his name was Bo, and how much he loves Florida State, and he went from there.”

Rudolph describes Bo as 'warm' and easy to talk to.

“You can affect people in a lot of ways. That’s the way you affect people,” said Coach Jimbo Fisher, who is proud of Rudolph. “Make somebody’s day by being yourself, and going and spreading the word, and understanding the impact you have as an athlete and role model to people in the community.”

Leah's touching Facebook post abut Rudolph has gone viral. “Travis Rudolph thank you so much, you made this momma exceedingly happy, and have made us fans for life!” she says.
