98-Year-Old Woman Told She's "Too Old" - She Does This To Shut Them Up

Age is just a number, an example of this is Evelyn. Evelyn is now 98 years old and resides comfortably in a retirement home. Unfortunately, it seems like society tried to write Evelyn off as “too old.” Until a few years ago, she had been able to live an active lifestyle because she still had a driver’s license.

Her driver’s license was taken away arbitrarily strictly based on age, not because of a medical condition or because she had a poor driving record. When she lost her license, Evelyn says she also lost her sense of independence.

This story, however, has a happy ending. When Evelyn heard that the retirement community van that ferried several elderly folks to the grocery store had been eliminated, she was distraught. No bus to the store was a major problem for her quiet friend Joyce, who had no other way to get to the store.

“If they don’t get another bus, they’ll find another place for me to live,” Joyce told Evelyn. “I just don’t want to go anywhere else.”

That’s when Evelyn promised her friend that she would make sure she could get to the grocery store. So Evelyn marched right down to the Department of Motor vehicles to retake her driver’s license. She passed the test and has been driving Joyce and other residents to the grocery store ever since.
