76-Year-Old Defends Herself Against 3 Attackers - Situation Takes Tragic Turn

An elderly woman from Anderson, SC had her life taken from her as a result of a gun battle outside of her home. According to 14 News, she would return to find that three armed men were at her house, and she would promptly pull out a gun and begin firing.

Dorothy Hendrix, 76, was still active and held down a job at an assisted living facility, as well as at a local bingo hall. She arrived home and found the armed men, and immediately engaged in a gunfight with them. Two of the male suspects took off, but one suspect was found alive at the scene with a gunshot wound to the stomach. Dorothy was struck twice during the shootout, and passed away at her home.

Her family has revealed that she bought herself a gun and learned how to shoot after she was a victim of an armed robbery at the same house. All of the suspects involved in the shootout have been arrested and are facing a litany of substantial charges.

"I think it's the same people out to rob her. I think they knew she had money on her," shared neighbor Donna Read.
