‘Duck Dynasty’ Actor Backs Transgender Restroom Law

Phil Robertson is weighing on the transgender restroom controversy by offering some of his home-spun conservative wisdom.

According to CNN, the “Duck Dynasty” star recently announced he has “a radical idea” concerning controversial legislation in North Carolina requiring residents to use public restrooms that correspond to their original gender.

“Men should use the men’s bathroom and women should use the women's bathroom,” the actor wrote in an email. “Just because a man may ‘feel’ like a woman doesn’t mean he should be able to share a bathroom with my daughter, or yours. That used to be called common sense. Now it’s called bigoted.”

The Hollywood Reporter noted that Robertson joined Citizens United in sending the email to fellow conservatives last weekend. The organization produced the documentary “Hillary: The Movie,” which ridiculed Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.

North Carolina’s House Bill 2 has elicited praise from conservatives and outrage from LGBT-rights advocates. Many corporations and entertainers have withdrawn their operations and canceled events in the state to protest the law. There was no mention of the legislation in Robertson’s email, though he did solicit money for the “Speak Freely” campaign.

“The Judeo-Christian values that led America to greatness are under full assault by the mob mentality of political correctness, and we’re slowly losing our soul,” the reality-show star wrote.
