Scientist Claims New Evidence Supports Bible Story

The debate between scientists and believers in God has surged once again to national headlines. Although some scientists often discount the idea and beliefs of Christianity, many other scientists spend their time investigating what is fact and what is fiction in the ancient stories of the Bible.

Now, a recent discovery has sparked enormous interest in both the scientific and Christian community. The discovery occurred at an archaeological dig site in Jerusalem’s Old City. Several months into the dig, the archaeologists working on the projects – sponsored by the Israel Antiques Authority – began unearthing ancient mosaics and thousand-year-old sculptures.

The incredibly valuable items have been transported to a nearby archaeology camp to be examined and displayed. The archaeology campus in question has one of the largest collections of Biblical history pieces.

Although it occurred in the Old City, the latest discovery was specifically located in the City of David. Initially, archaeologists working on the project believed that their dig site was outside the bounds of the city. However, initial excavations seem to indicate that this site was the center of the City of David at some point in the past. This isn’t the first time that scientists and historians have made momentous discoveries in this location.

The entire dig site is a stone’s throw away from Warren’s Shaft, an enormous early water supply tunnel that was discovered by the famed British engineer Sir Charles Warren.

Because of the nearby water shaft, excavation leaders and prominent archeologists were concerned that the City of David dig site would be compromised by rock movement. However, the site leader, Doctor Joe Uziel, was able to create a safe and efficient environment for his team.

In fact, it was Dr. Uziel, who also works at the Israel Antiques Authority, that managed to stumble upon the ancient mosaics. However, as more and more artifacts were uncovered, Dr. Uziel began to wonder if his team would find anything exceptional.

After walking back into the dig site, Dr. Uziel spent several hours assisting with the delicate excavation. Finally, the meticulous site leader made a second ground-breaking discovery.

While excavating another large mosaic, Dr. Uziel found a small ivory statuette in the excavation site. After calling the rest of his team, Dr. Uziel managed to uncover the rest of the well-preserved statue. The statuette – which was designed with reference to Egyptian aesthetics – had clearly been shaped by a skilled ivory craftsman.

Upon further investigation, Dr. Uziel found that the statuette was surrounded by a group of stamped jugs. As the excavation continued, no other major finds were announced and Dr. Uziel began to think that the statuette and jugs had been located in the deepest layer.

When specialist archaeologists and historians examined the stamped jugs, they concluded that the items had been stamped to indicate a date of creation. Other markings on the jugs were used to identify ownership. According to American Web Media, several jugs were inscribed with a marking that meant “For the king.”

The king in question was most likely King Hezekiah, a monarch who reigned more than 800 years before the coming of Christ. Using this information, Dr. Uziel concluded that the artifacts he and his team discovered dated back to 701 BCE and were “characteristic of the end of the First Temple Period and were used for the administrative system that developed towards the end of the Judean dynasty.”
