Trump's Replacement For Communications Director Leaves His Critics Outraged

Looks like President Trump has his sights on a new, an unexpected, White House Communications Direcor. Anthony Scaramucci had one of the most eventful 10-day runs in the political news cycle that you will ever see. President Donald Trump tapped him to be White House communications director about a week and a half ago. He was a member of the Trump administration for a total of 10 days, as he was wished well in future endeavors on Monday. In between, Scaramucci seemed pretty determined to scorch as much of the Earth as possible.

As the Independent Journal Review shares, there’s plenty of scuttlebutt on why Scaramucci was forced out so quickly, and there’s also some names being bandied about on who will be next up to the plate to fill that role. One name at the top of the list is Kellyanne Conway, who is currently serving as a White House counselor. Conway joined the Trump presidential campaign last summer, and she’s been one of the commander-in-chief’s most passionate defenders ever since.

Anti-Trump detractors have made a sport out of bashing Conway, but the fact remains that Trump seems to trust her completely. It’s not too hard to see why, as his campaign took on a much more professional tone once she was on board. Fast forward to today, and she’s able to coherently express the White House’s message while dealing with an endless array of hostile questions on the talk show circuit. Of course, she has had a couple of high profile missteps, but that comes with the territory when you’re constantly surrounded by microphones.

Much to the dismay of those that dislike Conway, she makes a ton of sense as the choice for the role of communications director. She gives off an air of being completely in line with the president’s overall agenda, and there’s a good chance she’d be able to translate that enthusiasm into a coherent communications strategy. For a White House that has tremendous trouble staying in front of the story, that would be a welcome change of pace.

As for Scaramucci, his epic crash and burn is nothing short of stunning. Shortly after being named to his new role, he made his first appearance in the press briefing room. He absolutely knocked it out of the park, and it seemed like he was a perfect fit for the Trump administration. Let’s just say he peaked on day one.

From that point, he went out of his way to puff out his chest while vowing to expose White House leakers. That culminated with a profanity-laced tirade that he launched on a reporter. Scaramucci failed to comprehend the concept of being on the record versus off the record before doing so. He lit into both Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon, and his tirade will go down in the annals of political gossip as one of the more stunning ones on record.

Fast forward to the end of the week, and Priebus was out as chief of staff. John Kelly was brought in, and the Mooch was set loose once Kelly was sworn in. Whether he resigned or was fired is irrelevant, as it’s clear that he had become persona non grata as far as Kelly was concerned. Oh by the way - Scaramucci’s wife also filed for divorce last week.

It would be pretty hard for anyone to crash and burn as hard as Scaramucci just did, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed that another member of the Trump administration doesn’t attempt to top him just in case.
