Trump's 'Art Of The Deal' Co-Author: 'I Would Be Amazed If He Survives Till End Of The Year'

The controversies swirling around President Trump will force him to leave office prematurely, the man who helped him write the book “Art of the Deal” predicted this week.

According to the Daily Mail, writer Tony Schwartz said he would be “amazed” if Trump is still president in January. The writer suggested that the administration will end before Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller concludes his probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election. The investigator and his legal team also are looking into charges of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, as well as the possibility that the president obstructed justice when he fired FBI Director James Comey.

“Russia stuff will be huge,” Schwartz said. “He doesn’t want to go to jail.” The author wrote that Trump will likely agree to step down if Mueller grants him immunity from criminal charges. “The circle is closing at blinding speed,” he tweeted. “Trump is going to resign and declare victory before Mueller and Congress leave him no choice. Trump’s presidency is effectively over. Would be amazed if he survives ‘til end of the year. More likely resigns by fall, if not sooner. Trump must be isolated. Resistance every day. The end is near but must keep pressure high.”

Schwartz also issued a message on Twitter that blasted Trump’s adult offspring. “Eric & Donald Trump Jr., dumber versions of their father. Ivanka Trump fake human and enabler. They all suffer from Stockholm Syndrome,” he wrote. In a follow-up tweet, Schwartz backed down. “Yesterday I criticized Trump’s children, and today deleted the tweet,” he wrote. “I don’t know them & I want to keep my comments focused on Trump.”

The Daily Mail noted that it was not the first time Schwartz has forecast an early Trump departure from the White House. In May, he told CNN: “I surely believe that at some point over the next period of time he’s going to have to figure out a way to resign.”

During another interview on the television network, in September 2016, Schwartz offered to help Hillary Clinton’s campaign at no charge. “This is my penance for having created a man who has become a monster, and I’ve spent 30 years feeling bad about it,” he said. “Now I feel like I’ve got to show that there’s nobody behind the curtain.” When asked to say something positive about Trump, the writer responded: “There was nothing I found appealing. This is a man who I really believe lacks a conscience at the deepest level, so there really was nothing. He was effective in certain ways. He’s a dominant, aggressive personality and he pushes and he pushes and he pushes and he gets a lot of what he wants.”

“Art of the Deal,” which the real-estate tycoon released 30 years ago, resulted from a year-long collaboration with Schwartz. The author claims he was a ghostwriter who penned the book by himself. He once said: “I wrote the ‘Art of the Deal.’ Donald Trump read it.” The two men’s relationship has clearly soured, as evidenced by Schwartz’s tweets calling Trump “narcissistic” and “paranoid.” Last year, the writer cautioned voters that electing the New York City businessman might result in Armageddon.
