Trump Says the IRS May Be Auditing Him Based On His Religion

After CNN's Republican presidential debate on Thursday night, Donald Trump was interviewed by CNN's Chris Cuomo. He talked about the possible reason for his repeated audits saying, "I'm always audited by the IRS, which I think is very unfair. Maybe because of religion, maybe because of something else, maybe because I am doing this, but this is just recently."

Cuomo then questioned Trump's statement about religion, and Trump responded "Maybe because of the fact that I am a strong Christian ... you see what's happened, you have many religious groups complaining about that."

Trump may have been referencing the fact that the IRS, under President Obama, audited a number of conservative groups to look into those group's tax-exempt status.
