Trump Doubles Down On Nukes Tweet

Social media exploded yesterday when President-elect Trump dropped a tweet about the country’s nuclear arsenal, and he added some more fuel to the fire when he was asked for a clarifying comment. As Newsmax reports, he essentially doubled down on his tweet, and he doesn’t sound too worked up about the possible ramifications.

His original tweet came early Thursday morning, and it provided plenty of fodder for the talk show circuit.

“The United States must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes,” the tweet read.

On Friday, Trump spoke with MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski of the network’s ‘Morning Joe’ program. He got on the phone with her after speaking with his newly named Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, and she shared his comments when she asked him for a little more insight on the nukes tweet.

"Let it be an arms race,” Trump said, “We will outmatch them at every pass and outlast them all."

Spicer certainly had his work cut out for him in his first day on the job, but he was up to the task and further clarified Trump’s comments.

"The point that he was making is very clear. Other countries, whether Russia, or others that want to threaten U.S. safety, we are not going to sit back and allow this country to not act," Spicer said.
