Schumer: Trump See The ‘Handwriting On The Wall’ Drop The Travel Ban

After the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals decision to uphold a restraining order against President Donald Trump's executive action, a New York Senator says the president should quit while he's ahead and just drop the matter. Democrats would love to see the executive order dropped now, because if the POTUS takes it to the Supreme Court, he could win.

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) says that the Trump administration is heading down a dead end by pursuing a travel ban on seven countries known to be terrorist hot-spots. Now that the appeals court has refused to reinstate the order, Schumer is urging him to let it go.

"President Trump ought to see the handwriting on the wall that his executive order is unconstitutional," Schumer said in a statement after the late-night ruling on Thursday.

The senator said it would be better if the president "abandon this proposal, roll up his sleeves and come up with a real, bipartisan plan to keep us safe."

Trump himself, shortly after the ruling, vowed to continue to pursue the matter in court. "SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!" he tweeted in all caps for emphasis.

Many Republicans are urging the president to alter the executive action, which was rolled out in a rushed and clumsy matter. Democrats want it nixed, for fear that if the president pursues the issue in court, he could eventually win. The 9th Circuit court is notorious for decisions that support a liberal agenda, and is, incidentally, has had more of its decisions turned over by the Supreme Court than any other court in the land.

One of the biggest issues the judges of the 9th circuit had with the president's order is that they felt the Trump administration failed to prove a need that warranted it. The Trump administration could regroup and present the Supreme Court with classified information that may persuade the justices that the president's call for a temporary travel ban is Constitutional.
