Rubio: Being Gay Is Something You're Born With

2016 Presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) argued on Sunday that he didn't believe being gay was a choice, but is actually how some people are born.

In an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation," he also said that he believes the definition of marriage is a union between a man and a woman.

He thinks that same-sex marriage should be decided by state legislatures, not the courts. Rubio does not think it's a constitutional right. He stated, "I also don't believe that your sexual preferences are a choice for the vast and enormous majority of people. In fact, the bottom line is I believe sexual preference is something that people are born with."

When it comes to loved ones, Rubio said he would attend a gay wedding even if he disagreed with the "choice." He went on to say, “I’m not going to hurt them simply because I disagree with a choice they’ve made or because I disagree with a decision they’ve made, or whatever it may be. Ultimately, if someone that you care for and is part of your family has decided to move in one direction or another or feels that way because of who they love, you respect that because you love them."
