Rubio Attacks Trump Over Tax Plan

On Tuesday, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) went after Donald Trump's tax plan by saying “If someone wants to raise taxes, they should run as a Democrat. I think if someone wants to raise taxes, they should run for the Democratic nomination. That party loves to raise taxes. I want to keep taxes low.” Last month, Trump promised that he would raise taxes on individuals such as hedge fund managers. In addition, he stated that would help him award middle-class families and corporations eyeing headquarters overseas tax breaks instead.

Rubio went on to argue “I don’t know what problem that solves. That seems to me like a solution in search of problem. I think we need to have the lowest tax burden nation of the industrialized countries. That means we need to lower our corporate tax rate, lower our personal tax rate, simplify the tax code … and have a pro-family tax code that increases the child tax credit.” Rubio also stated that he would support the eventual Republican nominee by saying “I intend to be the nominee. If it is not God’s will, then my intention is to support whoever the nominee is.”
