President Trump Condemns Barack Obama, Democrats For Failing To Stop Russian Hack

The Trump Administration is under attack from all fronts, dealing with unexpected levels of resistance against the healthcare bill, growing demands for transparency from frustrated journalists, and increasingly convincing evidence of Russian election interference.

As President Trump has demonstrated so successfully before, the best way for the Trump Administration to relieve the pressure is by going on the offensive. Accordingly, President Trump has launched a fresh round of tweets, targeting Barack Obama and the crookedness of the Democrats.

Capitalizing on a much-welcomed development in the Russian investigation, President Trump was quick to point out, that, during a testimony to the House Intelligence Panel, the Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, did not have any evidence of Russian ties with Mr. Trump’s campaign team or other associates. This admission prompted President Trump to tweet: “Former Homeland Security Advisor Jeh Johnson is latest top intelligence official to state there was no grand scheme between Trump & Russia."

However, President Trump shouldn’t count his blessings yet. During the Congressional Intelligence Hearing, Mr. Johnson implied that the FBI might have information he doesn’t, expressing his belief that James Comey would not have launched a counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign if he didn’t have sufficient evidence.

President Trump was also quick to condemn Barack Obama for failing to take action against Russian hacking while he was president. During his testimony, Mr. Johnson emphasized that Mr. Obama had been briefed on the threat but the Obama Administration had been reluctant to disrupt the election by enforcing strict cyber security measures, especially when Mr. Trump was already labelling the process “rigged.”

The Democratic National Committee was similarly reluctant to interfere, refusing an offer of cyber-security upgrades from the Department of Homeland Security. In response to the new information, President Trump sent a flurry of highly charged tweets, writing: “Why did Democratic National Committee turn down the DHS offer to protect against hacks (long prior to election). It's all a big Dem HOAX!... Why did the DNC REFUSE to turn over its Server to the FBI, and still hasn't? It's all a big Dem scam and excuse for losing the election!”

After Mr. Johnson’s reveal that then-President Obama was aware of Russian hackers, President Trump has finally acknowledged that Russian interference isn’t “fake news,” tweeting: “By the way, if Russia was working so hard on the 2016 Election, it all took place during the Obama Admin. Why didn't they stop them?”

According to unnamed administrative officials, tensions are running high in the White House. Within the Trump Administration, there is a growing group of policymakers and advisers who are attempting to constrain the president’s Twitter usage, mindful of his overly regular usage of the social media platform.

President Trump has had enormous success in building his Twitter following and turning it into his own unfiltered broadcast system. However, there are growing calls to monitor and vet his tweets, especially considering the possible legal ramifications of any dubious contradictory statements about the Russian investigation.
