Petition To Try 47 GOP Senators For Treason Gets Over 100K Signatures

The mainstream media has maintained the narrative that the 47 Senators who signed a letter to Iran are traitors. Now those who are buying into that narrative have signed a whitehouse.gov petition charging those GOP Senators with treason; the petition quickly broke the 100,000 signature barrier.

This means the White House has to respond. Yet, there is no telling whether or not the White House will actually satisfy its left-wing base with its answer. The petition alleges that the 47 senators “committed a treasonous offense when they decided to violate the Logan Act, a 1799 law which forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments.”

In the letter, the senators warned Iran that any nuclear deal they sign with President Obama will not be in effect once he leaves office. Jerome Barron, a professor of Constitutional Law at George Washington University, told ABC News in an interview that although he does find the letter "disrespectful," he does not feel the senators committed treason.

Secretary of State John Kerry did not call them traitors but said, "to write them [Iranian leaders] and suggest that they’re going to give a constitutional lesson, which by the way, was absolutely incorrect, is quite stunning."
