Melania To Be Honored With Life-Sized Statue Of Her Likeness

First Lady Melania Trump has flown somewhat under the radar since her husband assumed his post as commander-in-chief. While she makes the occasional ceremonial appearance associated with the office of the First Lady, she generally stays out of the spotlight. That same spotlight shines brightly on her husband, President Donald Trump, on a 24/7 basis, so perhaps that’s part of the couple’s formula for a happy marriage.

Despite the low profile, Melania benefits from a solid approval rating. She’s received some high marks for her public appearances, and supporters can’t get enough of her. That support comes not only from within our own borders but also close to her native home of Slovenia.

As the Express shares, the First Lady is slated to be honored in neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina. While it’s not an official countrywide honor, a shoe factory in the town of Banja Luka is enthralled with Melania. As such, a life-sized statue of the First Lady is slated to be erected outside of the Bena factory.

The statue will be made out of gypsum, and it will be crafted by a sculptor that counts figurines of Russian president Vladimir Putin and President Trump on his resume. Marinko Umicevic, director at the shoe factory, is a big fan of FLOTUS, and he views the statue as a small nod of admiration.

“We confirm this information with pleasure. Mr. Umicevic is planning to install a statue of Lady Melania Trump in front of our factory, in order to pay tribute to Mrs. Trump,” a spokesperson for the factory said. “We hope that in future we can expect positive answer and olive branch from U.S.A.”

Upon completion, the statue will wear a real handbag and shoes that were crafted by the factory itself. Umicevic is also hoping that the statue will help lead to some other changes.

"We hope that America will stop being the world policeman. We are hoping a friendship will come in the future from the United States instead of bombs that Serbs got from Bill Clinton,” he said.

That’s a sweet sentiment, and hopefully the little olive branch will open up some additional dialogue on issues that Umicevic feels passionate about. In the meantime, we can expect the statue of the First Lady to be a huge hit with the locals, and it should also help raise the profile of the factory across the globe.
