Many Republicans Embarrassed By Presidential Campaigns

The results of a recent New York Times/CBS News survey polls has been released showing that almost two-thirds of Republicans feel "mostly embarrassed" about their party after seeing how the campaign season has turned out.

The poll shows that 60 percent of Republican primary voters are not happy with the GOP. Only 13 percent of Democrats feel the same way about their party.

Donald Trump has transformed the GOP and the presidential race with an intimidating lead in polls and delegate votes. Even if Trump gains enough delegates to win the nomination, there may be a delegate revolt at this summer's Republican National Convention. Around 60 percent of Republicans surveyed also said that the tone of this campaign has been more negative than past races for the White House. Trump has often insulted fellow candidates on the campaign trail and during debates.

When it comes to Democrat Hillary Clinton, 40 percent of Democrat primary voters in the NYT/CBS poll said she is dishonest and cannot be trusted. A Bernie Sanders supporter told the Times, "I think she'll say whatever she needs to get elected, and what she says may not be what she's planning to do. I was concerned already when she was first lady, though I don't know what it is. I just don't know, and when we find out, it may be too late."

Democrats favorability for their candidates fairs better than Republicans.
