Kellyanne Conway Accused Of Being A Leaker After Cocktail Party Conversations Overheard

There has been a ton of speculation making the rounds about who may be behind the plethora of leaks emanating from the White House these days, and we can add one more suspect’s name to the list.

That name belongs to White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, who was allegedly overheard offering up some juicy gossip at a Washington, D.C. party. As the Daily Mail shares, a dedicated Twitter account entitled @KellyanneLeaks was set up to document what she had to say in real time.

That’s led to accusations that Conway is a leaker of information from the White House, but she denied that assessment during an appearance on ‘Fox and Friends.’ Conway noted that “if I were a great leaker, I'd get much better press, don't you think? Part of why I don't is because I won't divulge confidential information. I never divulge what the president tells me. I never would.”

Fair enough, but the real time account of what she had to say certainly raises some eyebrows.

“Kellyanne was at an embassy party last night, leaking sensitive Priebus and Trump White House conversations to @washingtonpost reporters,” read one post.

“She had a good/cruel riff mocking @Reince45 in WH staff meetings. 'No leaks guuuys' she said, mimicking him in a dopey voice,” read another.

“So @KellyannePolls held court for awhile. Along with knocking @Reince45, she also made jokes about the ineffectiveness of his RNC world,” the posts continued. “At one point @KellyannePolls said "Honestly, what the f*** does Marc Short do all day?"'

Well now. If that’s an accurate depiction of what she had to say, then it’s pretty clear she’s not feeling warm and fuzzy about things right about now. That being the case, it’s not incredibly hard to see why she would be suspected of being a leaker.

Those with an axe to grind can always find a sympathetic ear in the form of a reporter tasked with covering the White House, and those reporters are always quick to print what they were told. In a perfect world, the gossip would be at least somewhat verified before being published, but that appears to be a practice of the past.

For Conway’s part, she’s holding firm that she didn’t say what was attributed to her, and she made special note that she’s actually quite close with someone she was accused of blasting.

“Marc Short is one of my best friends in the West Wing. He came to my wedding 16 years ago. And he and Kristen are friends of ours, and our families are close,” Conway said. “I don't wonder what he does every day. I marvel at it. And I often join in those efforts. I think we had three or four meetings together just last week. He's our director of legislative affairs. He's one of the many unsung heroes.”

We’ll have to wait and see if this dies down or becomes a real story over the next few days, but it sounds like Conway may want to be a little more discreet with her cocktail party conversations in the future.
