Kathy Griffin Is Still Blaming All Of Her Troubles On Trump

If you fail to accept accountability for problems that you have created for yourself, then there’s a really good chance that those problems are going to continue to impact you. That’s the situation comedienne Kathy Griffin finds herself in these days.

Earlier this year, she made the incredibly poor decision of posing for a picture with a faux severed and bloody head that resembled President Donald Trump. As a result, she was hit a large amount of backlash from all over the place.

The condemnation against Griffin was nearly universal, as the photo was both revolting and off-putting. It seems like even she knew that it was in poor taste, as a video of her and the photographer preparing to upload the snap featured the comedienne rambling nervously about the wisdom of the decision. After being roundly blasted for her stunt, Griffin was all apologetic about things, but she tempered that by playing the victim card.

As the Independent Journal Review shares, she’s still playing the victim card to this day. She has essentially turned into a pariah in the entertainment industry, but she appears to be remarkably incapable of grasping why that’s the case. During a recent interview, she blamed Trump for making a big deal out of the whole thing.

“I think it would have been gone in a week without his tweet. Trump knows what would be perceived as something hysterical and he loves hysteria,” she said. “There are millions of people who think I’m a member of ISIS to this day.”

Griffin is wildly off the mark. Her stunt received an inordinate amount of attention, and that would have happened regardless of whether or not the commander-in-chief uttered a peep about it. In fairness to Griffin, Trump did address her actions directly in a post on social media.

“Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!” he wrote.

That’s a pretty straightforward assessment of things, and the president wasn’t stirring the pot with his post. He was simply sharing how he felt, as well as the impact her desperate grab for attention had on him and his family. Nonetheless, Griffin insists Trump was the one that made it into a thing.

“It was very soon after the Comey firing. He absolutely used me as a tool to distract from his bad news of the day,” she added. “They were thrilled to have someone come over and make fun of Trump,” Griffin added.

“I wish I could tour in the U.S. without getting shot — I know I can’t. I was in the middle of a 50-city tour when the tweet happened. It was canceled in 24 hours.”

Griffin sees things how she sees them, but reality tells a different tale about what she did. She spearheaded an irresponsible stunt in a bid for attention, and she got what she was looking for.

Unfortunately for her, she pushed the envelope way too far. The nation as a whole is pretty forgiving, but Griffin is failing to take a really simple step that may eventually lead to her being less of a pariah: a simple heartfelt apology for her severely misguided attempt at drawing attention to herself.

Absent that, she’s going to continue paying the price for what she did, and she has no one to blame for that but herself.
