Judge Tells New Citizens: Leave U.S. If You Don’t Support Trump

The judge presiding over a naturalization ceremony for immigrants in Texas on Thursday told the new U.S. citizens they should “go to another country” if they do not like President-elect Donald Trump.

According to KENS Radio, federal Judge John Primomo made the comment during his speech at the Institute of Texan Cultures in San Antonio. He told the naturalized Americans: “I can assure you that whether you voted for him or you did not vote for him, if you are a citizen of the United States, he is your president. He will be your president and if you do not like that, you need to go to another country.”

The Daily Mail pointed out that Primomo also took advantage of the occasion to lash out at football players who refuse to stand for the national anthem before games. Many of the athletes are demonstrating against racial injustice. “I detest that, because you can protest things that happen in this country; you have every right to,” the judge said. “You don’t do that by offending national symbols like the national anthem and the flag of the United States.”

Primomo revealed that he did not cast his ballot for Trump, according to KENS. One of the new citizens at the ceremony, Mohammed Al Farradh of Iraq, told the radio station: “It is exciting to be an American. I believe that America is bigger than whoever is in office.”
