Huckabee: Supreme Court Can't 'Overrule God' On Same-Sex Marriage

Right-wing presidential candidate and former Arkansas governor, Mike Huckabee, spoke at the recent National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference.

He talked about the U.S. Supreme Court with regard to legalizing same-sex marriage, saying, “I respect the courts, but the Supreme Court is only that — the supreme of the courts. It is not the supreme being. It cannot overrule God. When it comes to prayer, when it comes to life and when it comes to the sanctity of marriage, the court cannot change what God has created."

On May 5, Huckabee announced his second run for the White House. Although he did not win his previous bid in 2008, he did connect with the evangelical base of the Republican party, which helped him rise to victory in the Iowa caucus.

While discussing the rights of businesses to refuse service to gays, Huckabee said “Somebody’s got to be willing to take on the institutions that challenge and threaten our ability to believe as we believe, because when religious liberty is lost, all liberty is lost."
