Graham Blames Al Gore and GOP For The Lack Of Climate Change Proposals

After a speech at the Council of Foreign Relations, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham was asked if congressional Republicans could partner with Democrats to work together on the issue of climate change.

Graham said that his fellow Republicans would first have to agree that there is an actual issue. Graham said, "You know, when it comes to climate change being real, people of my party are all over the board. I said that it's real, that man has contributed to it in a substantial way."

Many of the Republicans who voted for amendments to the Keystone XL Pipeline project also do not endorse the concept of global warming or that mankind has some type of effect on the earth's climate changes. Yet, Graham also said, "But the problem is, Al Gore's turned this thing into religion. You know, climate change is not a religious problem for me. It's an economic, it is an environmental problem."

In Al Gore's 2006 documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, many Americans learned of the threat of increased levels of carbon dioxide in the earth's atmosphere. Last week, Gore implied that climate change deniers should play a political price.

Last month, Senator James Inhofe, who chairs the Committee on Environment and Public Works, threw a snowball on the Senate floor to make a point that climate change is a hoax. Graham also said, "I think the Republican Party has to do some soul searching. Before we can be bipartisan, we've got to figure out where we are as a party. What is the environmental platform of the Republican Party? I don't know, either."
