Coulter: Trump Needs To Forget DACA, Build Wall

Ann Coulter is prepared to hold Donald Trump accountable for his border wall promise, no matter how long it takes.

According to Coulter, President Trump should face impeachment proceedings for failing to build a border wall and changing his position on an immigration program.

The conservative writer and commentator, a former staunch Trump supporter who wrote a book praising him, told Newsmax TV on Monday that “we’re so sick of politicians, both Democrat and Republican, lying to us.” She continued: “Trumpism I trust in. It’s not looking good for Trump believing in Trumpism. If we’re not getting the wall, obviously Mike Pence would be better.” She was referring to the vice president, who is first in line to replace a president that Congress impeaches and removes from office.

Newsweek reported that last week, Coulter asked on Twitter: “At this point, who doesn’t want Trump impeached?” The tweet was a response to the president’s remarks defending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, an Obama administration initiative that has blocked the deportation of nearly 800,000 undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children. “They have been in our country for many years through no fault of their own, brought in by parents at young age,” Trump tweeted.

Coulter suggested that the president’s reversal on DACA, which he previously threatened to repeal within six months, did not surprise her. “It’s not like we weren’t aware of the massive personal baggage of Donald Trump and you know, the crudity, the boorishness,” she said. “I think the point of the electorate was we don’t care because what was the theme? What did they chant at every rally for 18 months? ‘Build the wall!’ And he apparently, I mean I thought he was a builder, but maybe we were wrong, and he doesn’t know how to build this. We thought he understood the urgency of this, but maybe we were wrong. He doesn’t seem to understand that if we’re not getting a wall, may as well have an attractive dignified Republican there who will get better Supreme Court justices under Pence.”

Coulter argued that “the wall is really crucial to the whole enterprise,” adding: “Before we talk about who’s coming in and who’s getting legalized and whether there’s a deal on what to do and amnesty and blah blah blah blah blah — No. First step, wall.”

Last week, Trump invited the two top-ranking Democrats in Congress, Sen. Charles Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi, to the White House. The officials discussed a deal that would preserve DACA while committing additional resources to border security. Many of the president’s anti-immigration supporters expressed outrage.

Coulter complained that many officeholders in the nation’s capital “keep promising, as candidate Trump did, that they’re going to care about Americans and do something to make our lives better, and then they get elected and they focus single-mindedly on how to make the lives better of people who broke into our country, drive drunk, rape little girls, commit gangland murders.” She described the situation as “a crisis in this country,” and declared that “politicians absolutely 100 percent will not deal with it.”
